Hola Amigos.....
It is almost the end of school. We are focusing on our libros and are excited to finish our workbooks and send them home in MAY/Mayo. It is very important to continue to practice your already learned vocabulary and not forget what we have learned. There are many ways you can practice during your days at home or on vacation. The books have a wonderful picture dictionary and written dictionary in the back. Please refer to them and use them all the time when you are out and about with your family.
The more you practice the better you will become at "hablando en español".....you can also listen to books online that are in Spanish.
Here are some of the numbers we are using in our classes right now.
10-diez
20-veinte
30-treinta
40-cuarenta
50-cincuenta
60-sesenta

¡Hola amigos!
Hola Amigos,
En el mes de enero/January we are learning tons! In kindergarten we are reading and saying our verbs comer(to eat) into complete sentences. In both kindergarten and first grade we are forming sentences using comer, mirar(to see) and jugar(to play), ir(to go), querer(to want) and tener(to have). We have done well with putting our vocabulary into complete sentences. Some examples of the vocabulary we use in kindergarten and first grade are la televisión, el pastel grande, la casa, la escuela, mis amigos. We are writing in our Spanish workbooks and enjoying every minute of it. In second grade, we are also continuing to plug our vocabulary words into sentence format using some verbs like comer/to eat, comprar/to buy, jugar/to play, beber/to drink and ir/to go. Third graders are gaining an understanding of the verb necesitar/to need and when to use por la tarde/la noche y por el día. In fourth grade we continue to work on using all of our verbs in the singular and plural format with minimal help. All classes are 30 minutes long this year and we meet twice a week...making our learning a fun educational experience. Please practice practice your Español :) Feel free to log into Tumblebooks and listen to the stories in the full complete Spanish version for that extra comprehension practice.
Adiós,
Señora M

Hola Amigos....
Hola amigos---
We just finished our set of quizzes for grades K,1st,2nd,3rd and 4th! And, we all did great!!
Kindergarten: colors
First grade: definition of some of our vocabulary when put into a Spanish sentence--tener, de, a
Second grade: understanding the correct way to form a question in Spanish with correct punctuation
( ¿ ? )
Third grade: Writing the correct form of the verb LLEVAR used in singular form
Fourth grade: Using the correct conjugated form of the verb MIRAR in singular and plural form
We are learning a lot!! In Kindergarten we are reading and saying our verbs GUSTAR/to like and plugging it into complete sentences using our character amigos Rosa, Pablo, Antonio and Livia. In kindergarten we will begin writing our Spanish vocabulary into complete sentence format. In First grade, we are learning how to plug our verbs into the Yo/I and Tú/you form while keeping our verbs conjugated correctly. Ask your student how to say I or You in Spanish...they should be able to answer you Yo or Tú. Or, ask your child how to say I eat or you eat...Yo como or Tú comes. They are excited to show off what they have been working on! In second grade we are working on the verb JUGAR/to play and when to use it when speaking about sports. And, using the yo, tú, él and ella pronouns like I, you, he, and she in Spanish while keeping our verbs conjugated correctly. Third graders are gaining an understanding of discussing modes of transportation and asking for or giving out information---all in SPANISH. In fourth grade we do all of the above, but our main focus is to be able to have a small conversation with me Señora Mitchell and try not to use much English at all...keeping our focus on the correct format when conjugating our verbs and placing the verbs in singular and plural format when necessary.

Hola Amigos...
We are taking quizzes in our classes this week. All classes are excited to see how well they do. In Kindergarten we took a color quiz. First graders took a quiz on two of our verbs: Comer/to eat and Jugar/to play. We drew pictures of what the verbs mean. In second grade we took our quiz on our daily used pronouns/yo/I/tú/you/él/he/ella/she. Students had to recognize them in English and in Spanish. In third grade we had to translate the definition of some places we use when practicing in our Spanish workbooks. Some examples are: La escuela/the school, la casa/the house, la playa/the beach, la tienda/the store. We also practiced putting our sentences into the correct order when using the special letter A in Spanish. For example, when speaking about going to the house we say "voy a la casa" or when going to the park we say "voy al parque." Third graders did well with this. In fourth grade we took a quiz about conjugating the verb JUGAR in the singular and plural present tense.
Remember to always practice, practice and PRACTICAR en español!!
Hasta pronto,
Señora Mitchell
